Encapsulated Flotation
TBD Marine Float Drums

TBD Marine Floats are available in many different configurations providing drum buoyancy ratings from 340 to 3615 lbs.  Thirty five (35) different sizes area available to match any application you may be planning.

TBD Marine Floats also provide a level of quality that continue to set them apart from other float industry products; and you can be assured the strictest specifications have been met with each and every float we offer.

All units are manufactured from linear virgin polyethylene resin containing UV inhibitors and carbon black pigment to protect against ultra-violet deterioration. These resins offer a balance of toughness, rigidity, environmental stress crack resistance and low temperature impact performance. Resin is also in compliance with FDA title 21. This is a resin that will exhibit resilience against ice, bumps by watercraft and contact deterioration from petroleum products. The encasement is recyclable. This is food grade material that will not contaminate the waterways.

FLOAT F.A.Q.s

How many float drums will you need?
General rule of thumb:
Residential - 30 pounds per square foot;
Commercial - 40 pounds per square foot.

Example: Using 2436-20 float drums (support 440 pounds each)
Residential: 8'W x 11"L = 88 square feet x 30 pounds per square foot = 2,640 pound of flotation needed. 2,640 pounds divided by 440 pounds (support of the drum) = 6 float drums.
Commercial: 8"W x 11'L = 88 Sq. Ft. x 40 lbs. per Sq. Ft. = 3,520 lbs. needed 3,520lbs. divided by 440 lbs. = 8 float drums.

Generally you will round up the number of floats needed to the nearest even number.

There are many factors that complicate the above formulas. Factors such as additional loads applied to the dock, ramps, structures, tables and storage boxes may require increased support. Please contact a Tiger Waterfront Products representative to discuss your specific needs.

Where should you place the floats?
A general rule of thumb is to place the floats around the perimeter of the dock. Finger Docks generally require additional flotation at the end of the dock to reduce deflection.

How are floats shipped?
We typically band to skid and ship via common carrier to customer. Some small floats can ship UPS as noted.
